In Medieval Japan there were many levels in the feudal system as apposed to the English Feudal system and they are shown below
English Monarch Tenants-in-cheif Sub-tenants Peasantry | Japanese Emperor Imperial family Shogun Daimyo Samurai Craftsmen Farmers Merchants Eta Hinin (I don't know what the last two are) |
As you can see, the Japanese Feudal system is far more complex than the English (Note: these feudal systems may no longer be like this)
